The Ritro Vending Story
Since 1893, the hot dog has been a part of American culture. From the World’s Fair, to hot dog eating contests, to city sidewalks, to baseball games and family BBQs, the hot dog is an American tradition. Every year, Americans consume an average of 60-70 hot dogs each. San Diego County resident Mike Ritrovato, and his wife, Marcy, are continuing this tradition with their hot dog cart, Ritro Vending, which can be seen all over San Diego County. In the fall of 2015 Mike had an idea to get his own cart, reminiscent of the nostalgic carts that started appearing on city streets around the turn of the 20th century.
While serving in the United States Marine Corps, Mike and Marcy decided to pursue their dream of being entrepreneurs by opening up a hot dog cart. What had began as simply a hobby, and a way to get to know their community of San Diego County, was about to become a full fledged business. The Ritrovato's enjoy meeting and interacting with the people of San Diego County. "We have always enjoyed serving people and building new friendships," the Ritrovatos say.
Variety and catering to the budget and tastes of the customers are the Ritrovatos two main goals. “We offer an affordable meal to fit anyone's budget." For example, there is a hotdog, chips and soda meal deal for $6.00 with all the toppings they want. We will offer a 100% all beef hot dog, with all the typical condiments,(mustard, relish, onions, mayonnaise, and ketchup) as well as BBQ sauce, chili, cheese, and an expanding list of local favorites. There will also be some unique offerings such as the homemade signature salsa for your dog, a banana pepper relish, and other seasonal surprises . . . Ritro Vending will cater to the public... if there is enough demand we will include them.”
